Rare Auld Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Distilled at
GLEN ALBYN DISTILLERY

HIGHLAND

Glen Albyn was yet another casualty of the early 1980’s cut backs in distilling – closing for good in 1983 before its subsequent demolition. The distillery had a very much stop start existence in its early years. The original Glen Albyn is believed to have been founded on the site of the Muirtown Brewery in 1846, however the distillery was destroyed 3 years later by fire and production did not restart until 1852. The distillery was in production for only a further 3 years when the then owners went bankrupt and the distillery closed. A new Glen Albyn distillery was built in 1884 by A. M. Gregory before subsequently coming under the ownership of United Distillers who ultimately sealed the distilleries fate.
