Glenrothes distillery was established by W Grant & Co in 1878 and merged with Islay Distillery Co in 1887 to create Highland Distilleries Ltd. The Glenrothes distillery was destroyed by fire and rebuilt around 1922 and the stills were increased from 4 to 6 in 1963. Glenrothes is popular with blenders and is a contributor to Cutty Sark and Famous Grouse.

Colour: Amber.
Nose: Rich oakiness & vanilla tones.
Flavour: Ginger nuts & marmalade.
Finish: Lightly spiced - smooth and creamy.
Comments:  Very complex.

Bottling: Duncan Taylor Glenrothes 1967 - 35yo Single Malt Scotch Whisky.  
Cask No: 8389.
Colour: Golden straw.
Nose: Woody & fruity.
Flavour: Limes. Creamy fruitiness.
Finish: Sweet, floral and grassy.
Comments:  An incredible malt!

Bottling: Duncan Taylor Glenrothes 1968 - 36yo Single Malt Scotch Whisky.  
Cask No: 13486.
Colour: Golden.
Nose: Sweet, lavender, minty very herbal.
Flavour: Touch of wood, spice and orange peel.
Finish: Short with a dry woodiness even a touch of peat.
Comments:  Cracking easy drinking old whisky.



Bottling: Lonach Glenrothes 1970 - 35yo Single Malt Scotch Whisky.
Cask No: n/a.
Colour: Golden.
Nose: Rich, velvety, strawberries and cream.
Flavour: warming lots of fruits here combination of dark and citrus notes.
Finish: Long and chewy.
Comments:  Yet another great Glenrothes.
